On February 20th 2025, the Powerleague facility in Ardwick, Manchester opened its doors to the public. Powerleague hosted a spectacular event which introduced the Northwest of England to Padel.

After months of anticipation, the wait was finally over. The club, which is very well known for its small-sided football pitches, had £1.4 million worth of investment to build a brand-new bar, vibrant social space and high-quality courts, with covers, to make them usable all year round. The Proper Padel team will be ranking this club in four different categories, which are price, courts, location and facilities, and will be giving each category a score out of 10, meaning the club will receive an end score out of 40.

Price – 9/10

A huge name in Padel, Babolat are partnered with this great club and offer racquet hire when you arrive at the venue. The hire price is £3 for a racquet, or the club offer a good alternative; a £20 deposit to use one of the high-end Babolat products. Moving onto the court cost, Powerleague charge £36 per hour for one of their courts in off-peak times, and £42 per hour for peak times, making it one of the cheapest roofed outdoor venues we have found in Manchester, hence the reason we are going to score this aspect of the club a 9/10.

Courts – 8/10

The court possesses six courts that play fast, keeping the games at a high tempo. With high ceilings, lobs are easily playable and rallies last a long time. Furthermore, the courts are well looked after and every time we have played there as a group, they have been clean and well-sanded. Were going to give the court section of this review an 8/10.

Location – 9/10

In regard to the location, this club is located just a 20-minute walk from the centre of Manchester. In addition, when you playing at the club, the Padel experience is enhanced at the covered courts are a short walk from the front desk; giving a feel of community with them being slightly ‘tucked away’. We are going to give the location score of this club a 9/10.

Facilities – 8/10

Finally, the extra facilities that the club offer are high. For example, there are three vending machines on the way down to the courts, offering various drinks and snacks to refuel players. Furthermore, an extra added feature that the club has is the ability to record the match that you and your friends are playing. For example, if you are playing on courts 1, 2 or 3, you can hit the button on the outside of the court area to record what may have been an entertaining point. This footage can then be captured at the front desk after your match. Also, the club has a modern bar, toilets, and an area where the courts are located to sit down and absorb the action. We are going to score the facilities aspect of this club a 8/10.
